San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program will present an MCLE on how to obtain Special Immigrant Juvenile Findings for minor clients in Family Court. The specialized legislation that established “Special Immigrant Juvenile Status” allows undocumented immigrant minors who have suffered abuse, abandonment and/or neglect to obtain legal residency status in the U.S. This MCLE will cover how to represent a client in Family Court during the first step in these proceedings, so the client can subsequently move forward with a case in Immigration Court.
